“You wouldn’t allow your kids to sit on the hood of your car, so why would you allow them to sit on the bow of your boat?”

National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month! Now is the time to think how important it is to be ready and prepared for – and resilient to emergencies of all kinds.
Residents of Calvert County, Maryland know how serious and dangerous the weather can be each year during hurricane and tornado seasons. Then there are the Winter storms. September is the time to put it all into perspective.
Sit down with your families and develop a family emergency plan. What will you do when? Are you prepared with 72 hours or more of food and water? Is your neighborhood prepared?
Here in Calvert County we are also lucky to have a CERT program developed by Calvert County Emergency Services. Some members of the Auxiliary in Calvert are also CERT Volunteers. CERT classes teach you what you need to do to help your neighbor when a disaster compromises your neighborhood. CERT volunteers are valuable neighbors!
Everyone can prepare! Visit the Department of Homeland Security website Ready.gov to learn what you can do to prepare during National Preparedness Month.
