November 2009

1. End of year data input.  As you know, maintaining certification as crew/coxswain, instructor, vessel examiner, dealer visitor, for example, requires periodic workshops, exams, classes and minimum performance to maintain certification.  Completion of the requirements doesn’t count if it’s not recorded in AUXDATA.  Check AUXINFO now to make sure your stuff is in.  If not, follow up with whoever was supposed to submit documentation.  If paperwork is not in by November, it probably won’t get it before the end of the year.  It’s way easier to stay certified than to get recertified.  If in doubt ask.

If you have a web browser and are connected to the internet, click on the following link (or copy it into your web browser): https://www.auxinfo.uscg.gov/cognos/cgi-bin/ppdscgi.exe?BZ=1AAAA8lKPrqUABEwU6VFChpEgVbAQCUIlaCswhrxpA6cMnTJuxqQpM8eEkCg9yMCAEbO7vw0SJEj21eyu97_5145Z5HxIBGHD9hZV3KShM6cEjJx6xxS8qfPD2TUDZl_ZmH1iu3Jqw2dlZGoDElKvXI99MWzEmPlmKHbnFLs~SuIQ08uMiyDxTEPAP0== If your name is not on the list that comes up or there is a “0″ under a certification you think you have, you’re certification lapsed for some reason.

2. As of 28 October 2009 the following training opportunities are available.  If interested, check with the indicated contact directly.

a. The following opportunities for 8 hour TCT are available.   Contact directly the individual indicated to sign up for the class:

21 November -  Berry Hall, Curtis Bay, 0830 to 1630 in the large classroom  Don Magni [email protected]

b. November 21 2009 Fifth District (SR) Leadership Academy will convene on Saturday 21 November 2009 at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center (TRACEN) Yorktown, VA.  Four courses will be offered, you can only take one: Division Commander/Vice Division Commander – Introduction/refresher; National Flotilla Leadership Course (for Flotilla Commanders/Vice Flotilla Commanders); Flotilla, Division Staff Officer, and ADSO – Introduction/refresher; and Leadership Skills- continuing education for all Officers.  An application must be submitted by 17 November (full description and application attached to October minutes.

c. Per Sector Baltimore, District Captain, ICS 210 will be given at the Sector Baltimore Workshops which will probably be held in February 2010.  This will likely be the last best hope for taking this class required for Coxswains and others in positions of leadership.  Stand by.

3. Training accomplished:

a.  No training completion recorded in AUXDATA for the period 5 October through 28 October 2009 and recorded in AUXDATA.  If your name is not on any training completed lists in the flotilla minutes and you attended training more than a couple of weeks ago, contact the instructor who gave it, to get info input to AUXDATA, failing that, contact FSO-MT or FC.
