Bow Riding

“You wouldn’t allow your kids to sit on the hood of your car, so why would you allow them to sit on the bow of your boat?”

Officers

The Auxiliary is a civilian, non-law-enforcement volunteer organization supplementing the boating safety mission  of the Coast Guard. Flotilla leaders are elected by the members.  The elected leaders at the flotilla, division, and national levels serve terms of office in the Auxiliary’s chain of management. Since we are  not a military service we do not refer to command as the chain of command. Our uniforms display not rank but position within the chain of management.

Each year our new leaders appoint Flotilla Staff Officers to fill important jobs within the flotilla. Appointed Flotilla Staff Officers support Public Education, Vessel Examination, Public Affairs, Member Training, Information Services, Dealer Visitor, Communication Services, Recruitment and Human Resources, ATON-Aids to Navigation and Marine Safety, Communications, and Operations programs.

Because of Coast Guard Auxiliary privacy regulations only the names of flotilla officers that complete a necessary disclosure form appear on this public list.

E.2. Mailing Lists

As a policy matter, rosters of Auxiliarist names, home addresses, and home telephone numbers shall not be made available to any external person or organization, nor used for any non-Auxiliary purpose. Privacy of all rosters shall be maintained. The Auxiliary shall maintain its voluntary noncommercial position. Privacy of mailing lists prevents the membership from being deluged with advertising literature.

E.5. Authorized Disclosure

Any Auxiliarist may grant permission to disclose certain personal contact information for dissemination to the public. Examples may include CC, PA, and PE Auxiliarists, and any others who wish to be contacted regarding Auxiliary programs.

(Officers download and complete disclosure form and return to Flotilla.)

Our many members make up the watchstanders, operational coxswains, boat crew members, and volunteers that perform all of our duties in AOR14.  Some of our members are serving as Auxiliarists with Coast Guard units in a non-law enforcement capacity. Together we are Calvert County’s Volunteer Lifesavers – The Drum Point Flotilla of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. The “silver side” of the United States Coast Guard.
